Trying to live ? Living to work?
Now in this world, my standard work week is 50 hours at work, weekends off (fortunately!), another 2 hours on average every single night so it accumulates. Add to that 40% of time spent from the country I start to question quality of live. Cash is good so this is a motivator. I enjoy my job even if it isn't that exciting (I'm within the printing industry). I've got a great boss - truly (rare statement via me you should know) and I'm flanked by fabulous, young, energetic, motivated and caring colleagues that desires to make change. Couldn't be superior right? Well - Furthermore, i do love my children. Fabulous wife and wonderful mother to the model daughter who is a model by the way along with a straight A student now finishing her IB. So what is all of this about then?
I'm complaining!
Do you know what? When I was fired 2 years ago I spent the very best 3 months of my entire life - literally - in between jobs. I needed money in the bank - and funds inside the notice period. It took me just a month to locate a great (better) job so I had constantly on earth to pay attention to the items I love (my family) as well as the actions and desires I have been previously so long pushing off. Each day, once i awaken in the morning - as well as if my work every day life is as great when i happen to be trying to project - I really miss the three months another.
Recently i read your site, an extremely depressing one. The point was something like - so why do we work? We're born, head to school, get degrees, get yourself a job and usually (well the majority of us) make enough money just to cover monthly of expenses and then by 65 roughly we retire and also on average we have a few years until we keel over. That's not your life - seriously. Your blog stopped short there but was kind of arguing that people ought to be entrepreneurs. I designed a few comments - no response.
But he/she had a point. The majority of us work to live. We actually don't live to work. We never should but what we should Should do is always to attempt to change our lives somehow - much like me - to go back to the idea in your life where we actually felt that life was best, and then there was obviously a nutritious balance between work-life, family-life, friends-life etc. in order that we get the qualities - hopefully that life's exactly about.
You realize me by now. I'm exactly about change. This is not another piece to awake you to definitely think change and do change. No to you (and I) to awaken and smell the roses and get - Is that this the most effective I will do? - and "is this the life span I want" - can i be at liberty if I, like I'm statistically set being, leave mother earth right after retirement age (well hopefully not obviously however, many do!).
I believe that no. Don't accept life as it is! You are living your lifetime. No-one is living it for you personally! Take calculated chances - everyone has responsibilities to family, creditors etc. so these chances driven by decisions must be calculated. Maximize possible outcome and mitigate risk. If you're able to plus you've got the slightest feel and belief this, if it turns out well, can change your daily life for your better - well take action!
Just in case you wonder - I want to change my well being. I'd rather not spent 38% of my waking hours working and 21% sleeping (I can't sleep much!). That leaves about 40% time to do things i love and become with those who I prefer to be around. I prefer my colleagues but I love my loved ones! I wish to change and my plan is to produce a web business that can turnaround enough to produce a living for my family and that i but permit me to work the hours and from your places I selected. Status quo is that I'm about 0.02% there and so i have only 99.98% to look but as the saying goes, step one is regarded as the difficult one.
Take this as rant from your guy who blows steam or pause for a minute and think: Have you been happy? How could you be?
Use a great weekend - and be with friends and loved ones!
